You aren't wrong. The good stuff is always overlooked. Just like in video games with any kind of editor. The stuff that's actually good always gets overlooked. This does actually happen to every kind of media. The musicians get this kind of thing. The game makers, art. Every single one. This is truly a frustrating thing for everyone who's actually putting effort, where the bigger creators, with lots of followers are being in the spotlight virtually all the time. Not that the popular creators make shit content all the time, quite the contrary. Just some people will rush things out.

I understand what your saying, but you shouldn't let it get to you. One thing I've noticed over the years is that newgrounds seems to be a place that works in "phases". By that I mean something on this site suddenly gains popularity then gets flooded with content both good and bad. For example there was a time where offensive parodies were hilarious. But then a bunch of those paradies flooded the site in made n people who saw the first one and said "I can do that and produce it in less time" this flood of rushed content made people lose interest and eventually porn parodies took the spotlight. The first few had ok art but then shitty poorly drawn messes came about with a few hits sprinkled about. This cycle of popularity and floods would continue until sprites entered this cycle. Now there was a TON of good content but like all the other phases before it people saw sprites and said "I can slap some into flash and finish my parody in 2 - 4 weeks!"

In fact just a few years ago I read some dudes rant on how he missed the "good old days of newgrounds" where offensive parodies and porn would win daily first, and how supposedly fans of sprites were purposely downvoting good content in favor of rushed sonic animations. And while I do consider this man ignorant if he thinks people are downvoting things just so something else can win that's his problem. I do however believe that not just for sprites but for every single one of newgrounds phases, littrtally every time something gets popular on this website comes a flood of people hopping onto the bandwagon and rushing out shot content. This puts a bad image of that subject and turns people away from said content. It just so happens that Friezaa wish came about at a time when people are starting to get sick of spritez.

But I do not believe that means we should just stop making our content. Rather I see this as an opportunity to start fresh. I believe that the people who rushed out sprites based content will slow down and stop. During this time we'll take our time to provide QUALITY content. You know the whole quality over quantity phrase. And as you've already said there's a flood of poorly drawn animations. Give it time, the crappy animations will drag down the good ones and people will turn to something else again.

Now personally I would rather have it that no one specific genre dies and we get nothing but good content for all genres.( sprites, hand drawn, sticks, porn ect.) I wish all of those could be held at equal value. But as long as newgrounds moves in phases that's not likely to happen. I swear it's like a moon....or a teenager.

As for me, I'll continue to work, not just for the small few who want to see quality sprite videos, but also for myself. Seriously this is way too much fun to quit just because other people aren't as interested as I am. Don't you agree?

indeed this whole place has changed back in the day on new grounds every thing was free you did not have to pay to be a support this site this place is die and people down vote all maybe to get even

It's so true! I've seen it and therefore I rarely visit this page anymore.
I've been here since 2005 and started makin' music and uploading it here in the end of 2006.
It feels like a month ago, but it's frickin 12 years ago... i'm old (only 23 but still)

Must have been an unlucky day for it to go so low... I've been surprised actually with how much GOOD content is coming into NG lately otherwise. Some days the entire Top 5 is solid quality, when one or two years ago it used to just be the top two or three, with some lesser stuff sneaking in a trophy just because there wasn't enough good content to go round. Changes for both better and worse, I guess...

But in this case yeah, with so many people involved too, pretty weird it didn't make the list. Maybe people are getting tired of DBZ...

Indeed, and Nintendo cracking down on old sprite submission of theirs... feels like their reptutation took a bit of a hit too. Hopefully that'll never happen with these other franchises.
